Walking Together for Change

Each year, Gravenhurst Against Poverty (GAP) joins communities across Canada in hosting the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) fundraiser. This powerful event brings together people from all walks of life to raise awareness and funds for those experiencing poverty, homelessness, and hunger in our community.

On one of the coldest nights of the year, participants walk side-by-side through the streets of Gravenhurst, symbolizing the challenges faced by many of our neighbors who are struggling to stay warm, find shelter, and meet basic needs.

What is Coldest Night of the Year?

Coldest Night of the Year is a nationwide walk that takes place each February to raise funds for local charities serving people experiencing homelessness, poverty, and food insecurity. For GAP, CNOY is an opportunity to not only raise vital funds for our programs but also to deepen community understanding and empathy for the hardships many in our town face.

All proceeds from the event go directly toward GAP’s programs, helping us provide meals, wellness support, transportation services, and more to those in need.

Walking for a Cause

The walk itself is a 2km or 5km route through the streets of Gravenhurst, beginning and ending at our community hub. Participants walk together, bundled up against the cold, in a symbolic gesture of solidarity with those for whom cold and hardship are daily realities.

Families, friends, colleagues, and individuals are all encouraged to participate, whether as walkers, sponsors, or donors. It’s an opportunity to come together as a community and make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Building a Stronger Community, One Step at a Time

Over the years, GAP’s Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser has not only raised critical funds but also strengthened the bonds within our community. Each walker and supporter is a reminder that no one should have to face poverty and homelessness alone. Together, we are building a stronger, more compassionate community where everyone has the chance to thrive.

We invite you to join us for the next Coldest Night of the Year in February. Walk with us, support us, and help bring warmth, hope, and opportunity to those who need it most.
