It is because of their generosity that GAP can serve the community week after week, meeting needs and providing hope where it is needed most.

From the moment GAP was founded, volunteers have been the core. Close to 300 passionate individuals, from all walks of life, contribute their time, energy, and skills to ensure that our neighbours receive the support they deserve. Whether they are preparing meals, organizing food hampers, providing youth programming, delivering food, staffing the office, providing transportation to families for essential appointments, or offering a friendly face at social programs, our volunteers make an extraordinary difference every single day.

The Strength of Our Volunteer Base

GAP’s volunteer community is a shining example of what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose. Our volunteers reflect the very best of Gravenhurst—people who care deeply for their neighbours, who act with kindness and empathy, and who are committed to creating a stronger, more inclusive community for all.

Each week, our volunteers:

Prepare over 850 meals to feed families and individuals facing food insecurity

Distribute 350 food hampers to households struggling to make ends meet

Provide transportation services to 100 households, helping neighbours access essential services

Lead wellness and social programs, offering mental health support and fostering connections

These numbers represent not just services, but the meaningful acts of care that volunteers bring into every interaction. GAP’s programs thrive because of their dedication. Our volunteers see beyond the immediate need—they see the people behind the need, and they respond with compassion, warmth, and generosity.

The exponential growth in the need for our services—30% more demand for food programs and 60% more need for transportation from 2023 to 2024—would not have been possible without our volunteers.
